SHOPPING IN SANTA MONICA, August 6, 2011

Here are some cool styles I spotted in Santa Monica during my weekly shopping adventures. Styles were found at the Santa Monica Place mall and on the 3rd Street Promenade.

The front crossover gives a nice update to the shirred sleeve dolman.

Stripe sweater knit with sheerness is popular and looks great.

I like the whole boho feel mixed with the trendiness of a

cowl neck sweater with drop stitches.

Loose dolman with center front, horizontal pleats.

It's tie dyed and drapey around the neck. Love it!

Love the subtle shark bite hem and all the seams.

G-Stage vs. Forever 21

I'll be honest, I am an avid Forever 21 shopper but had never heard of the clothing store G-Stage until recently. I decided to visit the G-Stage on Lakewood Blvd. after work one day to shop for some shirts and I must say I was surprisingly impressed by the wearables and the price tag attached to them. The clothing at G-Stage has a similar feel to Forever 21 in that they are fashionable and affordable, but I must say G-Stage had some pieces that were more original than anything I've seen in Forever. G-Stage also has an awesome plus size section with price conscious, trendy clothing. I bought 2 light weight sweaters, two shirts and a mock leather, hooded bomber jacket in dark camel (sooooo cute) for like $110 total. Find a G-Stage near you and incorporate them into your shopping routine. It's worth it.

The Best Affordable Boots at HENRY'S in Downey...Yes, Downey

A friend of mine recently turned me on to one of the best shoe stores ever for discount boots. The place is called Henry's and it's on Telegraph in a non-descript part of the city of Downey. They have awesome leather/suede boots and shoes at incredible prices. At first I thought the boots must have been formerly worn and resurrected with love and shoe polish to a sellable quality which was fine for the price (leather boots starting at $15.00). While bragging to co-workers about this store that sells these great used boots one of the designers I work with interjected and informed me that the shoes are actually extra inventory or display shoes that have been retired and now reside at Henry's for bargain shoppers like me. Henry's carries all types of boots and brands from Steve Madden flat sole, camel colored leather boots to high heeled, black Nine West boots. It's great.

The "New Over" Today at Jane's House - January 1, 2011

I placed a blog post yesterday announcing the New Over. Hopefully you made it out but if not here's a RECAP:

The "New Over" was everything I expected from the Do Over. The deejays were on point spinning everything from deep house to R&B to remixed blues. The drinks flowed, the bbq pit was up and everyone was having a great time. Jane's House felt like an appropriate and fitting venue for the Do Over since it's larger in size than the former venue Crane's so hopefully it will continue there this summer. The only downfall is the one bar.

If you're a fan of the Sunday afternoon "DO OVER" at Crane's then come out today for the "NEW OVER" at Jane's House in Hollywood. Hosted by the same cats as the Do Over, this party will have all the same flavor, sangria, bbq and good music as the summer Sunday fiesta.
